As Chaka, we are a community of people working to accelerate the efforts of artisans in the developing world as they strive to support their families through their art. We are a community that enjoys this art, because it is beautiful and unique, and has been handmade by an individual with a great story, a great family and big dreams.
Here at Connect, we want to invite you to participate in community with our artisans, and with Chaka, as we create an online community as cool as the communities we work in.
Redefining Handmade
Handmade can have many meanings. The most common interpretation would be a product that was made by an individual, not by a mass-producing machine. Though I believe this definition to be accurate, I’ve discovered through my work in Nicaragua that handmade can dig much deeper than this widely shared definition.
